１.スーパーコンピュータ利用入門講習会シリーズ開催 (4～5月) のお知らせ
九州大学情報基盤研究開発センターでは4～5月にかけて以下の講習会を開催します。
・スーパーコンピュータ玄界利用法
・スーパーコンピュータ超入門
・並列プログラムOpenMP超入門
・並列プログラムOpenACC超入門
・並列プログラムMPI超入門
本講習会シリーズは、これまでスーパーコンピュータを利用したことがない方や、
利用経験が少ない方、また新しい利用方法に挑戦してみたい方を対象としています。
講習会では、以下のような内容についてご紹介します。
・スーパーコンピュータでは何ができるのか
・スーパーコンピュータはパソコンとどのように違うのか
・スーパーコンピュータの性能を引き出すには何をすればよいのか
いずれもスーパーコンピュータ玄界を実際に使った実習を含みます。
この機会に、スーパーコンピュータの性能に少し触れてみませんか？
各講習会の開催日程や内容、申し込み方法などの詳細は以下をご参照ください。
なお、各講習会は同一内容で日程を分けて２回実施します。
■開催日程と内容
・スーパーコンピュータ玄界利用法
4月13日（月）、4月22日（水） 13:00 - 17:00
玄界を利用するために必要な、ログイン、コンパイル、プログラム実行、
ファイル操作、などの基本操作に関する実習付きの講習会です。
・スーパーコンピュータ超入門
4月16日（木）・20日（月）13:00 - 17:00
スーパーコンピュータが大規模な計算を高速に処理する仕組みを紹介し、
その性能を生かすためのプログラムの種類と使い方を説明します。
・並列プログラム（OpenMP）超入門
5月11日（月）・20日（水） 13:00 - 17:00
1台の計算機に搭載された多数の「CPUコア」を使った並列プログラム
でよく用いられるOpenMPという並列プログラミングモデルを紹介します。
・並列プログラム（OpenACC）超入門
5月12日（火）・18日（月） 13:00 - 17:00
GPUを使って容易に並列計算を行うことができるOpenACCの使い方を紹介します。
・並列プログラム（MPI）超入門
5月14日（木）・29日（金） 13:00 - 17:00
主に、複数台の計算機で構成された「クラスタ型」並列計算機向けの
並列プログラムでよく用いられるMPIという通信インタフェースを紹介します。

■参加資格
どなたでも参加できます。
並列プログラム（OpenMP, OpenACC, MPI）超入門は、
C、C++もしくは Fortranでのプログラミングの経験があることを前提とした内容となっています。

1. Announcement: Introductory Supercomputer Training Series (April–May)
The Research Institute for Information Technology, Kyushu University,
will hold the following training sessions from April to May.
Training sessions:
- Introduction to Using the Genkai Supercomputer
- Supercomputer Fundamentals
- Introduction to Parallel Programming with OpenMP
- Introduction to Parallel Programming with OpenACC
- Introduction to Parallel Programming with MPI
This training series is intended for those who have never used a supercomputer,
those with limited experience, and those who would like to explore new ways of
using supercomputers.
The sessions will introduce topics such as:
- What can be done with supercomputers
- How supercomputers differ from personal computers
- How to fully utilize the performance of a supercomputer
All sessions include hands-on exercises using the Genkai supercomputer.
For details such as schedules, session contents, and registration procedures,
please see the information below. Each session will be offered twice with the
same content on different dates.

Introduction to Using the Genkai Supercomputer
April 13 (Mon), April 22 (Wed) 13:00–17:00
This session includes hands-on exercises covering basic operations required
to use Genkai, such as logging in, compiling programs, executing programs,
and file operations.
Supercomputer Fundamentals
April 16 (Thu), April 20 (Mon) 13:00–17:00
This session introduces how supercomputers process large-scale computations
at high speed and explains the types of programs used to utilize their
performance.
Introduction to Parallel Programming (OpenMP)
May 11 (Mon), May 20 (Wed) 13:00–17:00
This session introduces OpenMP, a parallel programming model widely used
for programs that utilize many CPU cores within a single computer.
Introduction to Parallel Programming (OpenACC)
May 12 (Tue), May 18 (Mon) 13:00–17:00
This session introduces how to use OpenACC, which enables easy parallel
computing using GPUs.
Introduction to Parallel Programming (MPI)
May 14 (Thu), May 29 (Fri) 13:00–17:00
This session introduces MPI, a communication interface widely used for
parallel programs designed for cluster-type parallel computers composed
of multiple machines.

Anyone is welcome to participate.
