１．新スーパーコンピュータシステムについてのお知らせ
新スーパーコンピュータシステムの稼働開始に向けて、以下をお知らせいたします。
(1) システム名称の決定
(2) 利用負担金制度の変更
(3) ユーザおよびグループの扱いに関する変更
(4) 今後のスケジュール

(1) システム名称の決定
新スーパーコンピュータシステムの名称が以下に決定いたしました。
玄界（げんかい）
この名称は、新スーパーコンピュータシステムが稼働する九州大学伊都キャンパスが
面する玄界灘を由来とするとともに、このスーパーコンピュータに限界は無いという
願いが込められています。
この名称をご応募いただいたのは以下のお二人です。

(2) 利用負担金制度の変更
新スーパーコンピュータシステムでは、ITOでの各利用サービスに対して、利用負担金
制度がそれぞれ以下の通り変更となります。
・サブシステムA、Bの共有タイプ
いままでITOで採用していた月額定額制ではなく、あらかじめ購入していただいた
ポイントを計算サービスの使用量に応じて消費するプリペイド制となります。
ノードグループA、B、Cが対象です。
・基本フロントエンド、大容量フロントエンドの共有タイプ
共有タイプの対話型ジョブとして、プリペイド制でご利用いただけます。
ノードグループA、B、Cが対象です。
・サブシステムA、Bのノード固定タイプ
ITOと同様、事前の申請に対して割り当てられたノード数に応じて月額定額制でご
利用いただけます。
ノードグループA、Bが対象です。
・基本フロントエンドのノード固定タイプ
仮想ホストとして、事前の申請に対して割り当てられた資源量に応じて月額定額制
でご利用いただけます。
ノードグループAが対象です。
・ストレージ
後述の基本負担金に 1TBの利用権が含まれます。
1TBを超えるストレージのご利用については、ITOと同様、追加ストレージ容量に応
じて月額定額制でご利用いただけます。
・基本負担金
ITOにはありませんでしたが、新システムでは利用申請 1件ごとに基本負担金をお
支払いいただきます。
それぞれの金額、およびポイントの消費量は以下の通りです。
[基本負担金]
130円（月額）
共有タイプ・固定タイプのどちらであっても基本負担金が発生します。
基本負担金にはストレージ1TBの利用権が含まれます。
基本負担金のみのお支払いは不可であり、共有タイプ、固定タイプ、仮想ホストの
いずれかと合わせてお申込み頂く必要があります。
[ポイント]
共有タイプで使用できるポイントを1,000ptあたり1,000円で購入できます。
購入できるポイントの最小単位は1,000ptです。
ポイントは各ノードグループ共通で使用できます。

ノードグループA 30pt / 1ノード時間積
ノードグループB 120pt / 1ノード時間積
ノードグループC 40pt / 1GPU時間積
なお、ポイントの利用にあたり以下にご注意ください。
・ポイントの有効期限は購入月を含めた６か月後の月末と年度末のいずれか早い日と
なります。
・年度をまたいだ繰り越しおよび使用済みおよび未使用ポイントの払い戻しはできま
せん。
・1ノードに満たない資源量の利用や、1時間未満の利用については、実際の利用量に
対して上記の比率でポイントを消費します。
（例えばノードグループAで 60コア (1/2ノード) を利用するジョブを20分動作さ
せた場合の消費ポイントは 5ptです。）
ジョブへのコア数の割り当て単位や利用時間の制限については後日改めてお知らせ
します。
[固定タイプ]
ノードグループA 18,000円 / 1ノード（月額）
ノードグループB 78,000円 / 1ノード（月額）
なお、固定タイプを割り当てる単位については後日改めてお知らせします。
[仮想ホスト]

[ストレージ]
10TB：1,300円（月額）
基本負担金で使用可能な1TBより大きなストレージ容量を希望する場合は、上記の
月額料金を支払うことでストレージ容量を追加することが可能です。
10TB単位で上限100TBまで申請可能です。
(3) ユーザおよびグループの扱いに関する変更
新スーパーコンピュータシステムでは、ユーザアカウントをすべて新規に作成します。
そのため、現在ITOでお使いのユーザアカウントは利用できません。
また新スーパーコンピュータシステムでは、一つのユーザアカウントが所属できるグ
ループを一つに限定いたします。従来のシステムでは、主に一人で複数のプロジェク
トに参加する場合などに、一つのユーザアカウントが複数のグループに所属する設定
とし、newgrpコマンドでグループを切り替えながら使用して頂いておりました。しか
しこの方法では、終了したプロジェクトと継続中のプロジェクトのファイルが同じホ
ームディレクトリに混在する、など、プロジェクトごとのファイル管理が困難でした。
そこで新スーパーコンピュータシステムでは、一人で複数のプロジェクトに参加する
場合、それぞれのプロジェクトについて別のユーザアカウントを発行します。それに
ともない、複数のプロジェクトで同じファイルやディレクトリを参照するための手段
として setfaclを使用します。これは、自分が所有するファイルやディレクトリに対
して、他の特定のユーザによる読み書きの権限を自由に設定するものです。具体的な
利用法は後ほどWebページでお知らせします。
(4) 今後のスケジュール(予定)
現時点で予定している今後のスケジュールは以下の通りです。
・2月29日 17:00
ITOの計算サービス停止
（投入中のジョブはすべて破棄されます）
・2月29日 17:00～ 3月8日 15:00
作業のためITOへのログイン不可
・3月8日 15:00～ 新スーパーコンピュータシステム試験運用開始の2か月後まで
ITOのログインノード及びストレージを利用可能
（2月末の時点で有効なすべてのアカウントについて、
無料でご利用いただけます。）
・6月～7月上旬頃
新スーパーコンピュータシステムの利用申請開始
・7月上旬～9月末
新スーパーコンピュータシステムの試験運用
（ITOからのファイル移行（試験運用開始2か月後まで）、
プログラムの動作試験を行っていただきます。）
・9月中旬（試験運用開始2か月後）
ITOのログインノード及びストレージ停止
・10月
次期スーパーコンピュータの本運用開始
(5) ファイル移行方法
ITOから新スーパーコンピュータシステムへのファイル移行は利用者ご自身で行って
いただきます。移行期間は新システムの試験運用開始から2か月間を予定しています。
また、ファイル移行の方法としてはscp、rcloneなどのツールをご利用いただく予定
です。ファイル移行の手順については後ほどあらためてお知らせします。
(6) 一部ソフトウェアの利用停止及び変更（再掲）
現在ITOで運用中のソフトウェアMSC、SAS、ANSYS製品については、調査の結果、利用
者数が少ないことや利用範囲が地理的に制限されることから全国共同利用サービスと
しての継続が困難であるという結論に至りました。そのため次期システムにおいては、
以下の通り運用を変更させていただく予定です。これらのソフトウェアをご利用の
皆様には大変ご不便をおかけすることをお詫びいたします。
・MSC製品
Marc/Mentat/Nastran/PatranなどのMSC製品に関する利用は、次期システム内でのみ
の利用となります。MSC製品は、現有ITO内での利用者数が少なかった為、次期シス
テムではライセンス数を削減します。それに伴い、現有ITOシステムで可能だった
外部PC等にインストールしたMSC製品からの利用はできなくなります。また、次期
システムではリモートでのGUI起動は不可となります。
・SAS
次期システムでは持ち込みライセンス形式での利用となります。SASライセンスは、
全国共同利用サービスとして契約する場合に高額である一方で利用者数が少ないた
め提供を行いません。ただし、利用者がご自分で購入されたSASライセンスを持ち
込んで利用する形態を可能とする予定です。購入されたライセンスでのインストー
ルをご希望の方は全国共同利用担当（request(at)iii.kyushu-u.ac.jp）までご連絡
ください。
・ANSYS
次期システムでは運用を継続いたしません。ANSYSのライセンスは、インストール
した計算機から20km以内の範囲でのみ許可されているものであるため、伊都キャン
パス限定の利用となり、全国共同利用施設のサービスとしては適切でないためです。

1.Announcement on the new supercomputer system

(1) Name of the system
The name of the new supercomputer system has been decided as follows
Genkai.
This name is derived from the Genkai Sea on which the Kyushu University Ito Campus, where the new supercomputer system will operate, faces, and also expresses the wish that this supercomputer will have no limits.

(2) Changes to the user fee rule
In the new supercomputer system, the user fee rule will be changed as follows for each of the services used in the ITO.
Subsystems A and B: Shared Type
Instead of the fixed monthly fee rule adopted in the ITO up to now, a prepaid fee rule will be adopted, whereby points purchased in advance are consumed in proportion to the amount of computing services used.
Applied to node groups A, B and C.
Basic front-end and large-volume front-end: Shared Type
Available as interactive jobs of the Shared Type on a prepaid fee fule.
Applied to node groups A, B and C.
Subsystems A and B: Fixed Type

Storage
1 TB of storage is included in the basic fee described below.

Although it has not been included in the ITO, the new system requires the payment of a basic fee for each usage application.
The respective amounts of fees and point consumptions are as follows.

For use of less than one node or use of less than one hour, points are consumed at the above ratio to the actual amount of use.
(For example, for the job using 60 cores (1/2 node) in node group A runs for 20 minutes, 5 pts will be consumed).

(3) Changes regarding the handling of users and groups
In the new supercomputer system, all user accounts will be created anew. Therefore, user accounts currently used by ITO cannot be used.
The new supercomputer system will also limit the number of groups a user account can belong to to one. In the previous system, a single user account could belong to multiple groups, mainly when a single person was involved in multiple projects, and the user could switch between groups using the newgrp command. However, with this method, it was difficult to manage files for each project, for example, files from completed projects and ongoing projects were mixed in the same home directory.
In the new supercomputer system, therefore, when one person participates in multiple projects, a separate user account is issued for each project. Accordingly, setfacl is used as a means of referencing the same files and directories in multiple projects. This allows you to freely set read/write permissions on files and directories owned by you by other specific users. The specific usage will be announced later on the web page.
(4) Schedule (planned)
The following is the current schedule according to the system replacement.

(5) File migration method
Users are requested to migrate files from ITO to the new supercomputer system by themselves. The migration period is scheduled for two months from the start of test operation of the new system. The file migration will be carried out using tools such as scp and rclone. The file migration procedure will be announced later.
(6) Suspension and change of use of some software (reiterated)
As a result of the investigation, it was concluded that it would be difficult to continue the use of the MSC, SAS and ANSYS software products currently in operation at ITO as a nationwide joint-use service due to the small number of users and geographical restrictions on the scope of use. For this reason, the following changes will be made to the operation of the next system. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to users of these software products.
MSC products
The use of MSC products such as Marc/Mentat/Nastran/Patran will only be available in the next system, as the number of users of MSC products in the current ITO has been low. As a result, it will no longer be possible to use MSC products installed on external PCs, etc., as was possible with the current ITO system. In addition, remote GUI start-up will not be possible in the next system.
SAS
SAS licences will not be provided as they are expensive when contracted as a national joint-use service, and the number of users is small. However, it will be possible for users to bring in their own purchased SAS licences for use. If you wish to install the software with the purchased licence, please contact the National Joint-Use Office (request(at)iii.kyushu-u.ac.jp).
ANSYS
ANSYS will not continue to operate in the next system, as the ANSYS licence only permits use within 20 km of the installed computer, which is limited to the Ito campus and not appropriate as a service of the National Joint-Use Facility. We would appreciate your understanding.
