Accounts Used for Genkai

Portal Application Account (ap~)

  • An account for logging in to the application portal
  • Used for administrative procedures such as creating new projects, applying for participation, and managing points
  • Issued after registration on the application portal
  • This account alone does not allow you to log in to the supercomputer

Supercomputer Account (ku~)

  • An account used to log in to Genkai’s compute nodes and login nodes via Open OnDemand, SSH, etc.
  • Issued after the project representative approves your participation request and after center approval
  • Used for job execution, file transfer, and job management
Difference Between Project Representative and Participant

■ Project Representative
The person responsible for creating and managing a Genkai usage project.

Main authorities:
- Submitting new project applications (via the portal)
- Budget and point management
- Adding and approving participants
- Responsibility for usage records and reporting obligations (varies by program)
- Project termination and renewal procedures
→ The “administrator” of a Genkai project

■ Participant
A user who joins a project and uses the supercomputer.

Main roles:
- Apply for participation upon invitation from the project representative
- Receive a supercomputer account after approval
- Use computational resources (job submission, file transfer, etc.)
- Follow instructions from the representative for programs requiring reports
→ The “user” who performs computations
